Former Manchester United assistant Mike Phelan has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson used to make key decisions by tossing a coin when he was in charge of the club.
According to the Mirror, Phelan was Ferguson's right-hand man for five years at Old Trafford, and revealed that part of his job was to hold the former manager back because he could come out with some very strange decisions at times.
He added that he had to guide Ferguson through them and managed to do that as well.
Phelan further said that the former Old Trafford boss was probably not the only manager to toss a coin to pick a player to leave them out, adding that it is one of the hardest things for a manager to say to a player that they are not involved in a particular game after a hard week's training.
