England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that he does not want to break down but actually play the whole Ashes series and that he is eyeing a coaching role once his playing career is finished.

According to News.com.au, Pietersen pointed out that he has had knee issues in the past and just wants to make sure that the rehab continues.

The batsman missed England's opening your match in Perth because he was at a friend's memorial in South Africa, the report said.

Pietersen said he wanted to be a coach in the future but would find it difficult to become a full time boss in the shape of Andy Flower.

Steven Finn said that the batsman was very good and had helped him a lot over the years.

Then, rain washed out two of the four days in Hobart, giving Pietersen only one bat, with eight runs in 10 balls, the report added.

He left Hobart early to get cortisone in his knee on Sunday, the report further said.

On a three-minute video, Pietersen hits the gym and works up a sweat slightly more intense than yesterday's net session called for, trying to steel his body for the slog of an Ashes campaign, according to the report.
