England batting star Kevin Pietersen has overtaken England legends Wally Hammond, Geoffrey Boycott and Colin Cowdrey in the list of most Test hundreds by an Englishman with 23 tons.
However, Pietersen is still behind captain Alastair Cook in that aspect as Cook has made 25 Test hundreds.
According to the Guardian, Hammond, Boycott and Cowdrey had made 22 Test hundreds during their career, a record which was overtaken by Pietersen's 113 during the third day of the third Ashes Test at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The report further said that the century was however, Pietersen's only second home Ashes ton, with the first being the Oval blockbuster of 158 that sealed the 2005 series, although it was a valuable one as it helped England finish on Saturday on 7-294, trailing by 233 runs.
