A pilot got a New York-bound flight delayed by two and a half hours at Allama Iqbal International Airport as he wanted to take sandwiches aboard the plane.

The PIA flight Pk-711, which was scheduled for New York via Manchester was supposed to leave at 6:45am from Lahore airport, but as Flight Captain Noushad wanted to take sandwiches above the approved menu, the flight finally left at 9:15am, the Nation reported.

Sources at the airlines' catering department revealed that the Captain was informed about the inability to serve the sandwiches and also informed him about the sensitivity of the flight's departure time, however, he stayed adamant and left only when his sandwiches were arranged from a five-star hotel in the city.
