The family of Oscar Pistorius is planning to stay quiet after it was revealed that the convicted Paralympics runner would be kept under correctional supervision from August 21.

The Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) confirmed that the double amputee athlete would be released from prison on August 21 under correctional supervision and not on parole.

Family spokesperson Anneliese Burgess said the family is not planning to comment on any issues relating to the parole as reported in the media, Sport24 reported.

Pistorius was sentenced to a five-year jail in 2014 after being found guilty of culpable homicide of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. However, a state appeal against Pistorius' murder acquittal will be heard in November.
