The leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has said that Turkey is trying to protect the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by attacking Kurdish fighters.

According to the BBC, Cemil Bayik said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants ISIS to succeed to prevent Kurdish fighters from making significant gains.

Kurdish fighters including the PKK, have secured significant victories against ISIS fighters in Syria and Iraq.

However, Turkey and other western countries consider the PKK a terrorist organization.
