English Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore has said that Luis Suarez is an accident waiting to happen, and added that he was glad the Uruguayan had left Liverpool for Barcelona.
Suarez left Anfield for Camp Nou in a 75 million-pound deal after FIFA banned him for four months from all football for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil.
Scudamore said the Premier League would be more peaceful without Suarez, whose ban was his third for biting, Sport24 reported.
Scudamore said that he feels probably the time had come for his departure, and added that Suarez is a great player and he is not taking anything away from the striker's talents as his own players and the media voted him last year as the player of the year and deservedly so.
The Premier League chief said that Suarez is great to have but an accident waiting to happen, and he added that if one spends his time trying to promote what's good about the English league, he is always waiting for the next thing to come along.
And, Scudamore said that this one in the summer, although it was with Uruguay, although it didn't directly involve the English Premiership, clearly reflected on Liverpool as one of their great clubs and it reflected on them. He said that Suarez has done his time here, but he cannot say that he is sorry to see the striker go.
Suarez has appealed against his FIFA ban to the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport and will learn their decision on Thursday, the report added.
