Placement of Prince George's car seat for NZ tour sparks outrage

A photograph of a front-facing baby seat to be used for Prince George while he is visiting New Zealand has sparked a storm of outrage on social media sites with users slamming the seat provider.

Several people wrote on Plunket NZ's Facebook page highlighting that the proper way to place the seat is backwards, with one person calling the seat placement as "disgusting", News.com.au reported.

However, the company defended their decision by saying that while it was their practice to recommend rear-facing seats for an eight month old, there is no legal requirement to do so and the final decision lies with the parent or caregiver.

Prince William, wife Kate and baby George are set to kick off their 10-day trip to New Zealand, which will be the newborn prince's first official overseas trip.
