PM announces additional ex-gratia relief for victims MP train derailments

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs. 2 lakhs each from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the two train derailments in Madhya Pradesh. This is in addition to the relief assistance already announced by the Railways.

An ex-gratia relief of Rs. 50,000 has also been sanctioned from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for those who were seriously injured in the derailments.

At least 28 people have died after two passenger trains, Kamayani Express and Janata Express, derailed within minutes of each other while crossing flooded tracks in Madhya Pradesh last night.

 

Several NDRF teams have been rushed to the site of the derailment to carry out relief and rescue operations.
