Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in a fire accident involving a bus in Andhra Pradesh.
He has extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the accident.
At least 45 passengers died when the luxury bus, travelling from Bangalore to Hyderabad, caught fire in the Kottakota Palam area of Andhra Pradesh's Mehboobnagar District early this morning.
The bus rammed into a stationary oil tanker on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway and caught fire.
The incident took place at around 5 a.m. when most of the passengers in the bus were asleep. The passengers were mostly from Hyderabad.
Traffic on the National Highway was at a standstill following the accident.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
