The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on landing in China on Tuesday said he looked forward to discuss various issues with the Chinese leadership to promote further cooperation between the two countries.
"I am very happy to be visiting China. China is our great neighbour. We have centuries old civilizations and links," Dr. Singh said.
"There are a lot of things that we have to discuss. I am looking forward to discussing all these issues to promote further cooperation between our two countries, between the leadership of China and myself," he added.
The Prime Minister arrived here, earlier today, for a two-day visit to China.
Dr. Singh is scheduled to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang. The Prime Minister will also be hosted at a dinner by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Several agreements in areas like trade, economy, culture and people-to-people contacts are expected to be signed between the two sides after the talks.
This is the Prime Minister's second visit to Beijing. Dr. Singh had previously visited China in January 2008.
