Rajiv Mehrishi on Monday was appointed as the new Union Home Secretary after L.C. Goyal took voluntary retirement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the appointment of Rajiv Mehrishi, who was till recently functioning as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs.
Goyal took voluntary retirement from government service for personal reasons.
Mehrishi has been appointed as Union Home Secretary for a period of two years.
