Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday arrived at Windsor Castle to attend the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Other heads of the Commonwealth countries, including British Prime Minister Theresa May, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived as well.

Two-day Commonwealth Summit was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth at 10 a.m. (local time) on Thursday, which was followed by an official welcome of the leaders of 53 Commonwealth nations by May and Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland.

The Queen has been head of the Commonwealth since coming to the throne in 1952, but the position is not automatically held by the British monarch.

As the Queen no longer goes abroad, the current summit in London in all likelihood will be her last.

Prince Charles has represented her at recent CHOGMs outside the United Kingdom.

Who replaces Queen Elizabeth II as head of the Commonwealth will be discussed on Friday.

On a related note, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he would support a bid by Prince Charles to become the new leader of the Commonwealth.
