Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived in the Australian capital, where he is scheduled to address that nation's parliament.

The official twitter handle of the Prime Minister's Office confirmed his reaching the Australian capital.

"PM @narendramodi has landed in Canberra," it tweeted.

"Brisbane in the morning, Sydney in the afternoon and now Canberra," it added, posting a photo of the Prime Minister being received by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop and other dignitaries of that nation at the airport.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi attended a community even at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, where he spoke to around 16,000 people of Indian origin.

After addressing the Australian parliament here, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to travel to Melbourne, before departing for Fiji for the third leg of his three-nation, 10 day trip.
