Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and assured him of all assistance in tackling Cyclone Hudhud.
According to a statement to the media, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Naidu as the storm made landfall at Vishakhapatnam and assured the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader of all possible assistance in relief and rescue operations.
A number of buildings were damaged as earlier in the day, Hudhud made landfall with smashing 180 kmph winds recorded.
Over 400,000 people have been reportedly evacuated from the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha till now.
Forty two NDRF teams have been sent to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, with the maximum concentration around Vishakhapatnam.
