PM Modi calls for evolving strategies to stop spread of Left Wing Extremism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for evolving strategies to stop the spread of Left Wing Extremism, asking the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to play a key role in this regard.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on tribal welfare, the Prime Minister stated that various ministries and wings of the Central government should work in coordination to achieve this goal.

Prime Minister Modi also asked the concerned ministries to identify growth centres within tribal areas and to ensure the proper development of education, health and sports facilities in the country.

The Prime Minister also stressed upon technology penetration in order to ensure that undeveloped tribal areas are connected with developed areas through good infrastructure.

 

As far as health aspects were concerned, Prime Minister Modi underlined the need for the mapping of sickle cell anaemia among the tribal population, calling upon the concerned departments to explore the possibility of a cure via stem cell therapy.

The Prime Minister also instructed the NITI Aayog to involve research institutions, and eminent experts in all aspects of planning for tribal areas.
