Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chaired a high-level meeting here on Thursday to review the preparations for International Yoga Day, said the events and activities are being planned with an aim of making yoga a mass movement globally.
The Prime Minister shared his thoughts via a series of tweets after the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi said that he got an overview of various events being organised for the International Day of Yoga in India and in various parts of the world.
"Let's work together and make 1st ever International Day of Yoga a success. I request people from all walks of life to actively participate," tweeted Prime Minister Modi.
"We are planning events and activities on International Day of Yoga with an aim of making Yoga a mass movement globally," he added.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar, Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra and other top officials.

The main significance of the UN declaring an International Day is to focus the attention of the international community on the topic of the day, and to encourage activities among the member states of the United Nations to commemorate the day.
