Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution on the issue of the Line of Actual Control and the stapled visa issue, reiterating the importance of a clarification for the same.

"I... reiterated the importance of clarification of Line of Actual Control. I sought tangible progress on issues relating to visa policy and trans-border rivers. I also discussed some of our regional concerns," Prime Minister Modi said, while making his statement to the press after his restricted talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

In the 1962 Indo-China war, the LAC was the informal cease-fire line between the two warring states until 1993, when its existence was officially accepted in a bilateral agreement. However, frequent infringements are carried out by both countries. Meanwhile, due to Chinese claim on Arunachal Pradesh, Indian nationals from that state get stapled visas to go to China, while people from other states get their visas stamped on their passport.
