In a move that will enhance his communication with the sisters and brothers of China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his debut on the Chinese social media platform 'Weibo'.
This is the first of a kind attempt by any leader across India.
"Hello China! Looking forward to interacting with Chinese friends through Weibo," Prime Minister Modi shared his first post on the platform.

Prime Minister Modi is an avid and active user of the social media for several years now. He has used diverse social media platforms to reach out to the people across India and the world. From sharing updates on working of the government, policy deliberations, his own thoughts, greetings and replies to well-wishers, the Prime Minister's social media outreach has been lauded all over the world.
He has also been using info-graphics and videos to share the various efforts of the Indian government in the past one year.

The Prime Minister's Office also maintains a strong presence on the social media. This is in sync with the Prime Minister's vision of a digital India, where technology plays a pivotal role in governance and policy making.
Prime Minister Modi would be visiting China later this month on a bilateral visit. In September 2014, he welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping on a visit to India.
Later in November 2014, Prime Minister Modi met Premier Le Keqiang in Myanmar. Both meetings were very productive and the leaders discussed several ways to enhance ties between India and China.
As Gujarat's Chief Minister, Prime Minister Modi had travelled to China earlier in November 2011.
