Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dig on 'secularism' made in Dublin, Ireland, while addressing Indian Diaspora, only confirmed that the former has acquired a habit of endorsing something by condemning something else.

"I don't understand why the PM has this habit of endorsing something by condemning something else. I don't understand why he sees binary win-lose in everything," Singhvi told ANI.

"I don't see why he uses domestic politics, sarcasm on foreign soil. In all this, he demeans the PM's post, the splendour of India and Indian democracy," he added.

Singhvi further said that the Prime Minister should restrain himself, as he felt this was all completely unnecessary.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi echoed a similar sentiment, saying Prime Minister Modi makes it a point to criticise India and its leaders whenever he travels abroad.

Prime Minister Modi, who was welcomed in Dublin by the voices of Irish children reciting Sanskrit shlokas, took a jibe at the opposition parties back home, saying that if this was done in India, then it would have raised questions about 'secularism'.
