Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about Assam Tea but has done nothing to improve the plight of tea garden workers.
"Prime Minister praises Assam Tea, but has done nothing to improve the plight of Assam tea garden workers. Gogoi ji has increased the wages of the tea garden workers," said Gandhi at a rally in Sivasagar.
Accusing the Modi-led NDA government of being biased towards Assam, she said Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has struggled day and night for the progress of the state.
"To maintain peace in Assam, Congress has played a crucial role. But Assam is under danger. Why is Congress criticised. They know Congress represents every part of Assam. Under Tarum Gogi, Assam has emerged as a progressive state," she added.
The Congress president further said that the Prime Minister have snatched special status to Assam that UPA government gave.
"Prime Minister Modi's government is putting relentless efforts to end the autonomy. People are asking 'Modi ji, when will our ache din come?" she asked.
