PM Modi interacts with Jorhat farmers via video conferencing

A Kishan Mela was organized today as a part of the 74th Foundation Day of North East Institute for Science and Technology (NEIST), the only Science Laboratory in North East India which was also coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction with the farmers through video conferencing.

Prime Minister Modi also released two new plants varieties.

The two medicinal and aromatic plants that were released by the Prime Minister are Citronella and Lemon Grass.

Prime Minister Modi interacted with Biswanath Pandit and Akshay Sarma, successful farmers from Upper Assam for about 10 minutes.

He lauded and congratulated the success story of young Biswanath Pandit's who after completion of BSc (Botany) directly took up farming as his profession.

 

The Prime Minister added that his success story will give encouragement to thousands of people of the country.

More than 500 farmers from different districts of Assam attended the Kishan Mela.

A sapling each of Citronella and Lemon Grass were given away to all the farmers (Participants) by KM Bajarbaruah, Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
