Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping for talks at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday.

The two leaders are expected to sign several infrastructure related agreements and discuss important regional and international issues during the talks.

It is expected that the talks will be focused on boosting trade and investments, besides a discussion on substantive issues, including the unresolved boundary question.

Regarding the discussions between the two leaders, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told ANI, "When the leaders of important countries like India and China meet at the summit level, these are the occasions of discussing every issue of substance. I can assure you that process has already started."

Earlier today, Jinping met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who welcomed the Chinese President by saying, "Ge xia, wo hen huanying nin dao yindu lai - I extend a very warm welcome to you in India."

The Chinese President, accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan, had also visited Rajghat and paid homage at the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi where he laid a wreath along with floral tributes and was presented with a model of charkha or the spinning wheel.

They were earlier accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
