Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Israeli President Reuvin Rivlin here on Saturday during which both leaders discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between New Delhi and Jerusalem.

The political ties between India and Israel are friendly. The last visit at the level of President/Prime Minister was by the then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who visited India on a state visit in September 2003.

There have been frequent ministerial-level exchanges. The latest was the visit to Israel by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in November last year.
