PM Modi pays floral tribute at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's statue in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near Parliament Street here on Friday morning.

The Prime Minister also took to Twitter to hail Sardar Patel's service to the nation.

"Sardar Patel's life is a journey of deep-rooted courage, dedication and service to the Motherland. He is truly the architect of Modern India. I bow to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung were also present at the function when the Prime Minister paid his tribute.

The 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today is being commemorated as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' or National Unity Day across the nation.
