PM Modi pays tribute to former MP CM Sunder Lal Patwa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Sunder Lal Patwa in the state capital.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to express his grief over the demise of the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister.

"Saddened on the passing away of Shri Sunder Lal Patwa. He was a hardworking & dedicated leader whose good work as MP CM will be remembered," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

"Shri Sunder Lal Patwa strengthened the BJP & was always admired by Karyakartas. My thoughts are with his family. May his soul rest in peace," he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also expressed his grief over the demise of Patwa, saying he was the one who changed the state politics.

 

"The one who changed the politics of Madhya Pradesh, the one without whom one cannot imagine the politics of Madhya Pradesh, the one who was respected by all parties, Patwa ji is not with us anymore. He was absolutely fine at night but when he did not wake up till late in the morning, he was rushed to the hospital. The doctors there told us that he had passed away," Chouhan told ANI.

The Madhya Pradesh Government has announced a three-day state mourning after the demise of the former chief minister.

The veteran BJP leader and two-times Madhya Pradesh chief minister passed away this morning after suffering a heart attack.

Patwa, who was born on November 11, 1924, in Kukreshwar, also served as the cabinet minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government from 1999 to 2001.

He began his political career with Jana Sangh, which merged with the Janata Party in 1977.
