Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress Party on Wednesday said that the former is 'politically forced' to support Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who is under the hammer for irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

"In the DDCA case some enquiries have been constituted. So we should all wait and let the enquiry come. It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister is making a statement like this. He never made a statement like this in the case of Sushma ji, Vasundhara Raje or Shivraj Singh Chouhan," Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI.

"If you want to read into the statement, it perhaps very clearly states that the Prime Minister may is forced politically to support Mr. Jaitley," he added.

He asserted that there is a moral duty of the Finance Minister and it is up to him to take the call.

Earlier, in a strong show of support for Jaitley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the former will come through "with flying colours" against charges of corruption levelled against him by the Opposition.
