PM Modi praises UN for efforts in making world a peaceful place

On the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the world body, saying that UN remains committed to making the world a peaceful place.

"Greetings to everyone on @UN Day. UN completes 70 years in service of humanity, committed to its goal of making the world a peaceful place," Modi said in a tweet.

He said that India is at the forefront of various UN initiatives and is committed to doing its best in supporting UN in its endeavours.

Prime Minister Modi announced that Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad will be illuminated I blue at night to mark the day.

"The ideals and path shown by Gandhiji are extremely relevant today and they resonate with the UN charter and ideals of the UN," he added.
