Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday advised Shiksha Mitras not to adopt the route of suicide, and assured that once the court order comes, he will consult the issue with the state government.

"I want to tell my Shiksha Mitras that they should not adopt the route of suicide. When the court order comes, I will talk to the Uttar Pradesh Government," said Prime Minister Modi while addressing a rally here.

"The issue of Shiksha Mitra was being raised a lot in UP. I have asked the state government to send me the court order when it comes," he added.

"Mai nahi maanta ki UP sarkar shiksha mitron kay saath anyaya karna chahegi(I don't think that UP Government wants to do injustice with the Shiksha Mitra)," he stressed.

Recently, a shiksha mitra in Kannauj had committed suicide on Saturday night. Family members claimed that he was quite depressed over Allahabad High Court decision to quash appointment of 1.75 lakh shiksha mitras as assistant teachers.

Shiksha mitra, who were supposed to have minimum qualification of intermediate, were appointed during the previous BSP rule through a government order (GO) in 1999.

They were supposed to help the villagers in getting their children enrolled in schools and raise awareness about the need for education.
