Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday said that the government's decision to declare former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday as 'Good Governance Day' was a most suitable decision. uring his time, Atal ji's efficiency in dealing with international matters in terms of foreign policy has proven very beneficial for nation. That is why [Prime Minister] Narendra Modi has taken the decision to have his birthday celebrated as 'Good Governance Day' is a good decision," said Advani, in an interview to ANI.

"We were able to cross a lot of hurdles due to Atal ji's vision. So, the decision of marking his birthday as 'Good Governance' Day is most suitable," he added.

Advani further stated that the former prime minister's guidance and companionship will continue to inspire him throughout his life.

"I worked with him for over 50 years. Whatever I have been able to do today is due to his guidance and companionship. He is my role model. The more I watched him and understood his potential, the more it inspired me," he said.

"Under his supervision, the party kept functioning well. However, I also believe that the credit for the success of the party should be given to all the members and not a few individuals," he added.

The Centre had earlier this month declared that 'Good Governance Day' will be observed on Vajpayee's birthday on December 25.
