With Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing serious concern over the growing menace of drugs among the youth in the country through his 'Mann ki Baat' programme, the youngsters from various states on Sunday pledged to make India drug-free.

"Whatever Modiji has said, in simple language, is apt for the future of children. The drug slogan that he has accepted for the nation is very important. For that, the youth needs to support him and also help in improvising the drug- rehabilitation centers," said a youth from Nagpur.

"We have seen some of the points raised by Modiji in our real life as well. When he was speaking, it felt like one of my friends is speaking to me," said another youth.

Meanwhile, one of the parents said that the Prime Minister's talk on the issue was an eye-opener.

"(Prime Minister) Modi talked about an important issue and we liked it as well. The parents should be more alert and pay attention to what there is doing in daily life," said the mother of a teenage.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called drug addiction as a psycho-socio-medical problem in his third address to the nation through radio. He said that it was leading the youth to darkness, destruction and devastation.

The Prime Minister also called for a "Drug Free India" movement on the social media and stressed on the need to spread more awareness on the issue.
