As the Indian Air Force (IAF) today celebrates its 82nd anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi has saluted IAF personnel.
"On Air Force Day, I salute our air force personnel. They are our pride and their bravery, commitment and dedication continues to inspire," said Prime Minister Modi.
Air Force Day was officially observed for the first time on October 8, 1932, when it was an auxiliary air force of the British Indian Empire.
The Indian Air Force has 170,000 personnel and more than 1,400 aircraft. It is considered one of the leading air forces of world.
It has the responsibility of safeguarding Indian Territory from all risks and provide help during natural calamities in affected areas.
