Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said dynastic politics was a threat to democracy and urged the people of Haryana to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly polls.

"Enough is enough, in the last 25 years, has democracy been allowed to survive? Whosoever formed the government, their families prospered while the state went backwards. They have looted you using the name of caste and creed. And once they came to power, they did not take care about others except their families," Prime Minister Modi said.

"We have seen Haryana being looted, we have seen the government treasury being looted; now Haryana has to decide if they want to save Haryana. How long we shall allow Haryana to be looted? It is only the voters of Haryana who have to decide about the fate of this state," he added.

Holding the Congress government responsible for Basmati rice not reaching the world markets, Prime Minister Modi said that it was misguiding people and telling lies to the farmers of Haryana.

Taking at dig at INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala, Prime Minister Modi said that he did not need the support of gangsters and people who are in jail.

"There are parties that are distributing my pictures saying that they too will be supporting me post elections. I don't need the support of people in jails. I don't need the support of gangsters," he said at an election rally here.

Praising Kurukshetra, Prime Minister Modi further said, "This is a land of victory, this is a land of truth prevailing over untruth. This is a land where brave martyrs were born, even now as well , the sons of this soil are brave enough to fight for the nations' frontiers. This is a land of farmers who toil hard to feed the millions of countrymen."

Prime Minister Modi also drew attention of the crowd about Kurukshetra having tourism potential.

"Kurukshetra has the potential to even surpass Gurgaon and Noida.....Every Indian wants to touch the soil that Shri Krishna touched and, therefore, there was lot of scope of tourism and it can draw tourists from around the world," he said.

Asserting that he has become an ambassador for Kurukshetra, Prime Minister Modi said that he talks to world leaders about this land be it U.S. President Barack Obama, Chinese President or Japanese Prime Minister.

He said that tourism helps the poorest of the poor to earn a living, and added that Kurukshetra has enough strength to create an impact on Haryana's economy.

Haryana will go to polls on October 15 along with Maharashtra while the counting in both states will be held on October 19.
