The epicentre of Tuesday's 7.4 quake was in a remote conservation area between Kathmandu and Mount Everest, a foreign news agency reported.

Its effect was felt in New Delhi, parts of eastern India and even in Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs is in a constant touch with the states, while the Indian Air Force and the National Disaster Response Force have been placed on airlift alert should authorities in Nepal request for rescue and relief assistance.
