Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that this year, he will spend Diwali with the people who were affected by the floods in Srinagar.
"Will be in Srinagar on Diwali, 23rd October and will spend the day with our sisters and brothers affected by the unfortunate floods," the Prime Minister tweeted.
Incessant rains, coupled with a swollen Jhelum river caused severe floods in Srinagar, leaving the city with an estimated 280 people dead and crores in damages.
