PM Modi tweets birthday wishes to Big B

With Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan turning 74 today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday joined the nation in greeting the icon and wished him a long and healthy life.

"Dear @SrBachchan, wishing you a very happy birthday. Your versatility & humility has many admirers. Praying for your long & healthy life," the Prime Minister tweeted.

Meanwhile, the nation collectively sent Bachchan senior well wishes through social media.

Fans and celebrity alike took to Twitter and other social media platforms to relive the 73-year-old superstar's best moments in the film industry as well as the good things to come following this special day.

Not long after the clock marked the actor's birthday, #HappyBirthdayAmitabhBachchan began trending on Twitter in India.

 

The early 1970s witnessed Bachchan's stardom for his hit movies like 'Deewar' and 'Sholay' among many others. He was dubbed India's first 'angry young man' for his on-screen roles. Referred to as the'Shahenshah of Bollywood' and 'Star of the Millennium', Big B has since appeared in over 180 Indian films in a career spanning more than four decades.
