Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the 'Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate' scheme among others, aimed at creating a conducive environment for industrial development and doing business with ease.
Under the 'Shramev Jayate' scheme, labourers will get Unique Labour Identification Numbers, LIN, to facilitate their online registration. At least four crore labourers are expected to benefit from this scheme.
Prime Minister Modi also dedicated to the nation a unified labour portal called 'Shram Suvidha' and Universal Account Number for Employees Provident Fund besides the Apprentices 'Protsahan Yojana' which will support one lakh apprentices.
At the inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that E-governance and economical governance are effective and important for transparency.
"The biggest problem is that we who are in the Government think that no one knows anything better than us; this is wrong, we must trust our citizens. Inspector Raj is a big problem, I believe e-governance is effective and economical governance; it is also important for transparency."
He also appealed to the people to change their perspective towards manual labour.
"We are all aware of Satyamev Jayate. Shramev Jayate holds equal importance as Satyamev Jayate for the development of the nation," said Prime Minister Modi.
"White collar jobs are considered good. If a well-dressed person rings our doorbell we welcome him but if it's a poor person do we do the same? We do not give adequate importance to manual labour, by changing our perspective towards them," he added.
The Prime Minister also said that lot of initiatives have been taken for the development of entrepreneurship for the industry and ensuring labour welfare, which will help boost confidence of the youth.
He also added that for the success of 'Make in India' it was important to achieve ease of business as it was the priority of 'Make in India'.
"We have to see labour issues from the eyes of the labour. We can't see it from the eyes of an
industrialist. Skill development is a big opportunity for India, the world requires a huge skilled
work force by 2020, and we need to work towards it," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Steel and Mines, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Steel and Mines, Vishnu Deo Sai, also participated in the day-long conference held at the Vigyan Bhawan to unveil these schemes.
Health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Minister of Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitaraman and Sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal were also present to take forward the initiatives of Union Labour Ministry, in tandem with the vision of "Make in India".
