Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Twitter CEO Dick Costolo launched Twitter Samvad in partnership with the Indian government here on Tuesday.
The service will allow people to give missed calls to select phone numbers and in return they will receive tweets as SMS from several government offices, including PMO.
The service is powered by ZipDial, which was recently acquired by Twitter.
The step will give a boost to the Digital India initiative which was conceived by Prime Minister Modi and aims at ensuring the electronic availability of services to all citizens.
