Congress leader Madhu Yakshi Gaud on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running away from having a discussion on demonetisation as he would be caught and exposed if he will speak.
"If he will speak in parliament, he would be caught and exposed. That is why he is running away from a discussion, he told ANI.
"It is the Prime Minister's responsibility to run parliament but he has run away from the parliament. He can't take questions from the opposition," Gaud said, adding that Modi should take advise from senior party leader L.K Advani and the party.
Calling it a sad day for democracy he said, "A person of no less stature than the Prime Minister is lying blatantly to the common people."
"Don't destroy the intrusion in parliament. If you have any faith and respect for parliament which made you Prime Minister then come and speak in the Parliament."
Modi on Saturday hit out at the opposition for demanding his presence in parliament yet not letting him speak. He said he found it better to talk in what he called the "Common Sabha."
"Government has always said we are ready to debate. I am not being allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha. So, I am speaking in the Jan Sabha," he said while inaugurating dairy plants in Deesa, Gujarat.
