Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday indicated that Prime Minister's Narendra Modi's official page on Facebook becoming popular was a sign of people taking interest on the activities of Modi.

"Social media has its own importance and in many areas it plays a major role. The eagerness of people that what Prime Minister is doing and how all is going is leading to the popularity," Abbas said.

A record of sorts was created when Prime Minister's Narendra Modi's official page on Facebook garnered one million 'likes' within days of being launched. The page was launched on May 27 and has managed to surpass the one million mark after just four days.

The Prime Minister already has a massive following on social media. His twitter account has about 4.5 million followers and his Facebook page has over 16 million 'likes'. His twitter handle and Facebook page are also very active at disseminating information related to the PM.
