Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will return home on Tuesday night after concluding his five-day visit to the United States.
Dr. Singh is presently in Frankfurt, Germany, on an overnight halt.
During his visit to America, Dr. Singh held bilateral summit-level talks with President Barack Obama and decided to broaden the range of the ties in various areas, including defense, energy and trade.
Dr. Singh, who met Obama at the White House in Washington, also explained to him the difficulties India faces given the fact that the epicenter of terror still remains in Pakistan.
Dr. Singh also met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif for the first time on the sidelines of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly, during which he made it clear that ending ceasefire violations and terror is a pre-condition for taking the relationship between the two Asian neighbours forward.
Besides addressing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Dr. Singh also met his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina in New York during which they had a one-to-one interaction and discussed issues of mutual importance.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon, Foreign Secretary Sujata Singh and other senior officials.
