Police arrest five Maoists in red corridor area

Police arrested five Maoists and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions after a joint combing operation with paramilitary force in India's 'red corridor' of Jharkhand.

Deputy Auxiliary Police (DAP) launched a joint operation at the rebel hideout in Ranchi.

Superintendent of Police, Prabhat Kumar, said that the rebels belonged to a Maoist group, People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI).

"Five Maoists of People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) have been arrested - Sanjay Patar, Dilip Bediya, Jagmohan Patar, Mahavir Munda and Prakash Munda. We have also recovered two pistols, .315 cartridge, motorcycle and four mobile phones from them," said Kumar.
