Kanpur Police today arrested the husband of a murdered woman, Jyoti, for allegedly planning his wife's murder.

Ashutosh Pandey, Inspector General (IG), Kanpur Zone told the media that the accused, Piyush wanted to marry his friend staying near his house due to which he murdered his wife.

Pandey confirmed the report saying that the CCTV footage was very crucial in arresting Piyush.

"Piyush was earlier denying the allegations but after seeing the CCTV footage he accepted that he had conspired with driver Avdhesh to kill his wife," said Pandey.

Piyush himself accepted in front of the media that his neighbour's driver Avdhesh killed Jyoti along with his three- four mates.

"The driver stabbed Jyoti with a knife and at that time Piyush was also sitting inside the car as the couple had gone for a long drive for which they had hired Avdhesh. According to our investigation, Avdhesh lives in Auraiya and the police is looking to arrest him now," Pandey added.

Pandey, however, denied reports of Jyoti's kidnapping by a group of men on four motorcycles and said that only driver Avdhesh and his friend were involved in the murder.

Police had recovered Jyoti's body on Monday, who was murdered on Sunday night when she had gone for dinner with her husband.
