A Polish national, accused of drug smuggling, has been apprehended while trying to cross over to Nepal.

A police officer, Arvind Pratap Singh, said the accused, Obrowski, had been on the run.

"He is a citizen of Poland. A case was registered against him under the Narcotics Act. He was on the run," he said in northern Maharajganj District.

A case was registered against him and his accomplice in 2000 at the Delhi airport under the Narcotics Act but he was untraceable since then.

"He came under scanner at the Delhi airport and the case was registered against him. But he couldn't be traced then. A case was also registered against a person who was with him. He was involved in it," added Singh.

The immigration authorities apprehended him at the India-Nepal border as a lookout notice was issued against him.

He will be brought to Delhi for further probe.
