Police recover arms and ammunition from Maoists in Palamu

In a joint operation, officials of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police recovered arms and ammunition, including three rifles, live cartridges and two bombs during clashes with Maoists in Jharkhand.

Security personnel clashed with Communist Party of India-Maoists (CPI-M) on Monday night in Palamu District and also recovered 33 different SIM cards, mobile phones and solar charger.

Superintendent of Police, Y. S Ramesh, said term the arms haul a success.

"Last night from 12 midnight to 1 a.m (1930 GMT), there was an encounter between the police and CPI Maoist near Hariharganj Police Station. During the encounter, a 3.03 weapon was looted from police and police recovered two weapons of 0.315 and hand and country made cartridges. Items like SIM cards, mobiles batteries, solar chargers have been recovered, which is a success for us," said Ramesh.

 

Two Maoists were injured during the encounter and all of them managed to escape.
