Police have reportedly thwarted a dissident terror plot targeting ex-security force members working on the Game of Thrones TV set in Belfast, a report said.

According to Belfast Telegraph.co.uk, Republican terrorists had planned to plant a bomb next to a catering unit at the Paint Hall Titanic Studios where former cops working on the set of the hit HBO show, were gathering for meals.

The report said that the plot was foiled after a tip-off from an informant.

The terrorists were tipped-off that a number of former security officials had been working on the site.

It is believed that the attack had been foiled months ago but kept secret.

When the police got to know about the attack, the security around the Paint Hall was visibly beefed up, compelling attackers to abandon their plans.
