Security has been beefed up around the restaurant in Bengaluru where a bomb explosion claimed the life of a Chennai-based woman and left three others injured.

Bengaluru's Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said that security has been tightened in anticipation of New Year's day crowds congregating in the area.

"We are enhancing our arrangements. We are putting ten watch towers with our officials who will have a greater view. There are various CCTV cameras put up by shop owners and by us. We are putting barricades and whoever enters this area will be thoroughly checked," he added.

On Monday, Bangalore Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi said security will be tightened across the city, both in general terms and in view of the New Year celebrations.

A woman was killed and three others were injured on Sunday night in an explosion triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in front of a famed Bengaluru restaurant.

The blast occurred around 8.30 p.m. near the Coconut Grove restaurant on Bangalore's Church Street.

Meanwhile, the security has also been beefed up in the national capital following the incident.
