Alleging that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is giving a free hand to "goons" in the West Bengal police force, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday questioned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on why such targeting was being allowed under her watch.

"The situation of Bengal is turning from bad to worse. Since the time TMC leaders were arrested for corruption, TMC workers have been given a free hand and have asked the Bengal Police not to interfere and target BJP. So, the situation is getting worse," BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh told ANI.

Commenting on the recent attacks on BJP's state office and minister's residence allegedly by TMC workers, Singh said they would be meeting the Home Minister to discuss the same.

Taking the same issue forward, we will be meeting the Home Minister today at 1 p.m. We will apprise him of the situation and will request him to monitor the situation there. If a team has to be sent, then it should be sent. He should decide according to the Constitution and that what is best for constitution."

Following the arrest of TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay in the Rose Valley chit fund scam, West Bengal is seeing cases of violence where in BJP offices and their leader's houses have been attacked allegedly by TMC workers.

BJP leader Krishna Bhattacharya's house earlier on Tuesday was allegedly attacked by TMC workers.

BJP headquarters in downtown Kolkata was also vandalized by TMC workers.

Union Minister of State and BJP MP Babul Supriyo yesterday alleged that TMC 'goons' tried to break into the apartment in Kolkata where his parents stay.

He took to Twitter to vent out his ire.

"TMC Goons trying 2 break into my Apartment in Kailash Bose Street where my MumDad are staying• How shameful is this," Supriyo tweeted.
