Politicians file nominations ahead of general elections

Politicians belonging Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) across various parts of the country filed their nominations for general elections on Tuesday

Congress leader Gurudas Kamat filed his nominations separately in Mumbai

Kamat said he is hopeful of winning this time as well.

"I am contesting elections for the eighth time. I have won before, and we hope to have a sure victory this time on the basis of the welfare work that we have done for the people of Mumbai. Congress has given me a chance one more time, and we seek the blessings of the people," Kamat said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader L. Ganeshan filed his nomination papers from Chennai.

 

"Today I have filed two nominations. One has been proposed by the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), by Vanathi Srinivasan, my BJP state general secretary along with the representatives of the DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam), PMK (Pattali Makkal Katchi), MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) and IJK (Indhiya Jananayaka Katchi) and the second proposal was given by on behalf of voters of south Chennai Shri Parmeshwaran..(sic)," he said.

Ganeshan added that he is confident that Tamil Nadu will have a BJP representative post elections. He will start his campaign through road show on Tuesday evening from Madipakkam suburb.
