Leaders across the political spectrum took to twitter on Monday morning to extend congratulations to Leander Paes and Sumit Nagal after their respective Wimbledon titles.
"Congratulations to Leander Paes & Sumit Nagal on winning the 2015 Wimbledon mixed doubles & the Wimbledon boys doubles trophy respectively," Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley posted.
"Congratulations @Leander.Great show @Wimbledon.Brilliant as always. Congrats young #SumitNagal too..India's new star.Proud moments 4 India," Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and former Olympian Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia dubbed 2015 as 'India's glory year' at Wimbledon.
"Congrats Leander Paes for winning the Mixed Doubles & Sumit Nagal for winning the Boy's Doubles, making it India's Glory Year at Wimbledon," he posted.
Paes and his Swiss partner Martina Hingis beat the Austrian-Hungarian pair of Alexander Peya and Timea Babos 6-1, 6-1 at Centre Court at Wimbledon, racing to victory in only 40 minutes. Meanwhile, Nagal and his Vietnamese partner Nam Hoang Ly overcame fourth seeds Reilly Opelka and Akira Santillan 7-6(4), 6-4.
